  lanFoster,网格计算领域国际著名的研究者和领军人物。他于伦敦皇家学院获得计算机科学博士学位,是美国阿尔贡国家实验室数学与计算机科学部副主任和高级科学家、芝加哥大学计算机科学教授、美国科学发展协会委员和英国计算机学会委员。他的研究领域包括大规模分布式计算的创新技术及应用,已经出版了5本著作,并且在并行计算,分布式系统及高级应用领域发表了超过200篇论文和技术报告。由于在并行编程语言方面的杰出成就,他于1989年被英国计算机学会授予技术创新奖。
