Steve J.Kulich(顾力行)iS Executive Director of the SISU Inter-cultural Institute.As a communications specialist and intercultural professional with over 25 years of Asian experience,his career began by teaching business communications in China’S Taiwan dis-trict(1979—1981),doing ASia.focused research,writing and staff training for PAN Communications in Singapore(1982—86),and continued with degrees in Chinese and intercultural communi·cation studies(Xiamen University,1986—90,University of Kan-sas,1990—92).Since 1993,he has been a resident scholar atSISU(Shanghai International Studies University),from 1993—2002 in the Overseas Training Department and since 2000 teachingpost—graduates intercultural communication.In 2002,he became the founding Professor of the Intercultural Communication Pro-gram in the SISU Graduate Sch001.As of 2005,he was appointedsupervising professor of a faculty now teaching a 9-course inter-cultural academic program and helped found the new SISU Inter—cultural Institute.To date。thirty.two MA theses in intercultural communication have been written under his direction as part of this program.He is closely affiliated with the active and growing network of scholar.practitioners in the Shanghai Branch of theChinese Association for Intercultural Communications(CAIC).He also works with international businesses,having designed or conducted staff training programs for MNCs such as Kone,Nike,Rockwell.Collins,GM/SAIC,SC Johnson,Fed.Ex,DHL andSaint。Gobain.Internationallv,as a Fellow of the InternationalAcademy of Intercultural Research(IAIR)he conducts cross.cul.tural studies under various grants.In addition to his more than 30publications,three course books and three business.related self.development guide books.he iS also on the Editorial Board of the The Intercultural Communications Series,published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press.
