In Tibetan Buddhism, a nang pa means a Buddhist. Nang means to look inside in Tibetan, thus the word points to the change of direction of the mind's focus from the mundane to the reigious. While common people spend their lives chasing thoughts and mind reflections, monks and nuns relate directly to the nature of mind itself. The topic of my research is traditional Tibetan themes in painting and the possibilities of expressing and relating to them in my own painting style within a contemporary art context.
