This book vividly depicts the progress of China’s poverty alleviation with a particular focus on the author’s first-hand experiences witnessing the historical changes of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the development of Minning Town. During his extensive field research in Ningxia, Shanxi, Guizhou, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Hunan, the author interviewed poor households and the grassroots officials, narrating their experiences before and after shaking off poverty.
