I seek an MSF education out of my long-lasting interest in finance. Immersed in my father’s dinner-table talks on financial and monetary issues and his personal library of financial books, I started to love finance in childhood. Studying as a major of Financial Engineering, I have furthered my interest into serious exploration of knowledge and skills of quantitative finance, which perfectly combined my academic passion for finance and intellectual strength in mathematics. Through a series of research projects, including one sponsored by the People’s Bank of China, I have experienced abundant pleasure in seeking solutions to financial problems with quantitative tools. During my internships with the Kunshan Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Shanghai Branch of the Bank of China, I had valuable first-hand experience with the forefront of the financial industry in China, which instilled in me a strong desire for improving my expertise and international experience through an MSF education.

At the same time, I have narrowed my career expectations down to the fields of fixed-income investment or derivatives in an international investment bank. In about 5 years, I plan to seek the position of a fund manager. In the long term, I will come back to China and contribute my part to the sound growth of its developing financial market and industry.

To both my educational and professional goals, the MSF program at the Olin School of Business will prove highly valuable. Olin offers a curriculum that is highly analytical and technical, which will facilitate my strength and promote my career development in Derivative Pricing and Investment Banking. With Olin’s Experiential Learning, I will also sharpen my practical skills and enrich experiences with the actual financial industry. Through the Olin School’s Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, I will be able develop leadership skills and more experience in a real-setting setting. In addition, I am greatly attracted to the world-class professors, including Professor Hong Liu and Guofu Zhou who specialize in the fields of asset pricing, derivatives, and others. Through my expected study at the MSF program at Olin, I can expect to acquire more professional expertise, perspectives, and experiences. And I am sure I will graduate from Olin ready to seek the most competitive job in finance.
